WASHINGTON, July 31 -- Rep. Gregory W. Meeks, D-New York, chair of the House Financial Services subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection, issued the following statement regarding the Capital One data breach:
"The Capital One data breach is just the latest in a long series of incidents that put American consumers at risk of identity theft and financial losses. Our financial system, electoral process, healthcare system, and national security must be secured . . .
