WASHINGTON, July 18 -- Rep. K. Michael Conaway, R-Texas, issued the following statement after voting against a resolution (H.Res. 582) by the Democrats to increase the federal minimum wage:
"Any policy that costs the United States 3.7 million jobs is a bad policy as far as I'm concerned. If enacted, this bill would cripple small businesses and disproportionately affect those in lower socioeconomic groups and workers under the age of 25.
