WASHINGTON, July 18 -- Rep. Steve Womack, R-Arkansas, issued the following statement on the Raise the Wage Act:
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that this legislation could cause a loss of nearly 4 million jobs. In contrast to pro-growth Republican policies that have naturally led to higher wages, increased job opportunities, and economic growth, the Raise the Wage Act seeks to implement a heavy-handed federal mandate that would kill jobs and cripple the economy . . .
