WASHINGTON, July 15 -- Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, member of the House Judiciary, Homeland Security and Budget Committees, issued the following statement on President Trump's decision to change asylum laws:
"I strongly object to the President's decision to unilaterally change the asylum apparatus in the United States. The right to seek asylum is an important one, part of national and international law, and unilaterally changing the protocols of this basic universal right . . .
