WASHINGTON, July 15 -- Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, chairman of the House Judiciary subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship, issued the following remarks at a subcommittee hearing on the overcrowding and prolonged detention at Customs and Border Protection facilities:
"The title of today's hearing, 'Overcrowding and Prolonged Detention at CBP Facilities,' barely begins to convey the inhumane conditions children and families in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody . . .
