WASHINGTON, July 12 -- Rep. Eliot L. Engel, D-New York, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement in support of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act to repeal the 2002 Iraq War authorization of the use of military force:
"Authorizing the Iraq war was a mistake--the worst vote I ever took as a member of the House of Representatives. We can't correct the error. But we must take back the authority granted to the Bush Administ . . .
