WASHINGTON, July 12 -- Sen. Tom Carper, D-Delaware, ranking Democratic member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the following statement after the House approved by voice vote an amendment to the defense authorization bill, authored by Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Michigan, designating per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances chemicals as hazardous substances under the Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund law:
