NEW YORK, June 19 -- The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene issued the following news release:

Today the Health Department announced a new media campaign to encourage Asian New Yorkers to get screened for colon cancer. In 2016, more than 1,300 New Yorkers died from colon cancer, making it the second leading cause of cancer deaths. Screening can prevent colon cancer or detect it early when it is easier to treat.
