NEW YORK, June 4 -- The World Jewish Congress issued the following news release:
The World Jewish Congress mourns the death of Semion Rosenberg, the last survivor of the Sobibor death camp, who passed away on Monday at the age of 97.
"Semion Rosenberg was a hero who risked his own life resisting the Nazi 'Final Solution.' Defying all odds, he was one of only 47 people to escape Sobibor and elude the relentless dragnet that claimed the lives of most of those who too . . .
