CHARLESTON, S.C., Jan. 13 -- The Citadel issued the following press release:
U.S. Army Maj. Brian Michael Mescall, Citadel Class of 1997, died Jan. 9 in Afghanistan. The Department of Defense announced on Jan. 12 his death along with that of two others who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Mescall and the other two soldiers died in the Zabul Province of Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle in Jal . . .
