Maine PUC Approves Bangor Natural Gas Debt Issuance
AUGUSTA, Maine, Jan. 15 -- The Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has approved Bangor Natural Gas Company's request to issue up to $40 million in long-term debt to finance its acquisition by Unitil Corporation.
The PUC order, issued on January 14, 2025, allows Bangor Gas to issue senior unsecured notes with maturities of up to 30 years at a fixed coupon rate not exceeding 7.60%. This debt issuance will be used to refinance short-term financing obtained by Unitil to complete the merger tran

Maine PUC Approves Consent Agreement With Superior Plus Propane
AUGUSTA, Maine, Jan. 15 -- The Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has approved a Consent Agreement with Superior Plus Propane to resolve allegations of safety violations.
The agreement stems from a Notice of Probable Violation issued by the PUC's Gas Safety Manager in August 2023. The notice alleged that the company failed to follow its own safety procedures, had inadequate procedures in place, and did not comply with Maine's LPG Safety and Operation Standards.
