The national hires rate was 3.3 percent in August 2024, with the total number of hires at 5.3 million. Alaska was among the states with the highest hires rate, at 5.0 percent, followed by Florida, Idaho, and Oklahoma (4.4 percent each). California was among those with the most hires, at 511,000, followed by Texas (464,000), and Florida (442,000).
