OSMRE Recognizes Two Coal Operators With 2024 Excellence in Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Awards
WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement issued the following news release:
The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) has awarded the 2024 Excellence in Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Awards to Navajo Transitional Energy Company LLC, of New Mexico, and Black Mesa Pipeline LLC, of Arizona, in recognition of exemplary results in returning a site to productive use after completion of coal mining.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Sentenced for Civil Rights Violation and Falsifying Records
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, Sept. 26 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Mexico issued the following news release:
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer was sentenced 20 months in prison for violating the civil rights of a U.S. citizen and falsifying records in a federal investigation.
There is no parole in the federal system.
