All FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers Will Be Closed on Labor Day
WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency issued the following news release:
All FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Iowa will be closed Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day.
The centers will reopen on Tuesday, September 3 at 8 a.m. Before visiting a DRC, you can apply for FEMA disaster assistance by:

Iowa U.S. Attorney: Waterloo Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Possessing Gun and Drugs
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Aug. 29 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa issued the following news release on Aug. 28, 2024:
A felon who possessed a firearm and drugs was sentenced today to five years in federal prison.
Carlos Danacio Traywick, age 51, from Waterloo, Iowa, received the prison term after a February 27, 2024 guilty plea to one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
