WASHINGTON, June 21 -- The White House issued the following news release on June 20, 2024:
Today, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. declared that a major disaster exists in the State of New Mexico and ordered Federal aid to supplement State, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the South Fork Fire and Salt Fire beginning on June 17, 2024, and continuing.

VA Announces and Names New National Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico
WASHINGTON, June 21 -- The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued the following news release on June 20, 2024:
Today, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced it will begin building a new national cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2025. The cemetery will be named Albuquerque National Cemetery and will be the third national cemetery in the state.
"Albuquerque National Cemetery will serve nearly 78,000 Veterans," said Acting Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs Ronald Walters.
