N.C. U.S. Attorney: Husband Charged With Wife's 2013 Murder in Indian Country Appears in Federal Court
ASHEVILLE, North Carolina, April 10 -- The office of the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina issued the following news release on April 9, 2024:
A Swain County man is facing a federal charge for allegedly killing his wife in 2013, announced Dena J. King U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.
Ernest D. Pheasant, Sr., 46, an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), is charged with one count of first-degree murder in Indian Country. P

NETL-Supported Technology for Capturing CO2 From Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant Flue Gas Set for Key Testing
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania, April 10 -- The U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory issued the following news:
NETL experts and representatives of the Department of Energy (DOE) visited North Carolina to review final preparations to ship and test a lower-cost transformational technology developed by CORMETECH Inc. that is designed to capture at least 95% of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the flue gas of natural gas combined cycle (NGCC) power plants.
