WASHINGTON, Oct. 11 -- The Environmental Protection Agency announced that it expects to award up to five grants for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances research. The agency description of the grant states: "Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of manufactured chemicals that have been widely used in industry and consumer products since the 1940s.
