WASHINGTON, May 28 -- The Naval History and Heritage Command issued the following news: It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing of former Secretary of the Navy John William Warner on 25 May 2021. He served as Secretary of the Navy from 1972 to 1974 and then was a five-term U.S. senator from the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1979 to 2009.
