WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 -- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued the following report summary and conclusion:

The CFPB has identified ten promising practices for tax assistance providers to help people save when filing their taxes. For the past five years, we've been working with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs and commercial tax preparers across the country, and we have learned how to make tax-time savings initiatives more successful.
