WASHINGTON, June 23 -- The AFSCME (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees - AFL-CIO) issued the following statement by President Lee Saunders on the Federal Aviation Administration privatization bill:

"AFSCME is strongly opposed to inefficient and risky efforts to privatize the nation's air traffic control operations. Air traffic safety must be our chief concern and that requires responsible governmental control and continued strong oversight.
