INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, April 4 -- The Indiana House Republicans issued the following news release:
The governor recently signed State Rep. Jim Lucas' (R-Seymour) legislation into law to create the state's first-ever medal of honor for first responders.
Lucas said he authored the legislation after being contacted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and determining the state did not offer an award to recognize first responders who were injured or died while on duty . . .
