WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 -- Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, issued the following statement after House Republicans voted to approve H.R. 1 - the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. H.R. 1 would raise taxes on 36 million households across the U.S.:
"Prior to the vote today, I reached out to mayors and city managers within my congressional district asking for their position and input. What I received were overwhelming concerns about how this would impact our communities."
