CHICAGO, May 5 -- Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill. (9th CD), issued the following statement on Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day:
"Today, we remember the lives lost to the horror of the Holocaust. Nearly six million Jewish people, including over one million children were senselessly executed in a horrific act of genocide. After World War II, my district became home for the largest population of Holocaust survivors second only to Israel.
