INSTITUTE, W.Va., Oct. 13 -- West Virginia State University issued the following news release:
West Virginia State University will pause during its Homecoming celebration for a solemn task. A plaque will be added to the Alumni Carillon in honor of Sergeant Deforest Talbert, a student who was killed in Iraq in 2004. The memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 15 in the Visitor's Plaza where the carillon is located.
