WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 -- The office of Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., issued the following news release:

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today called on the Public Service Commission (PSC) to reject Energy East's request to raise gas and electric rates on nearly 1.5 million New York ratepayers.
