WASHINGTON, July 21 -- Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Texas (17th CD), issued the following news release:
A provision authored by Congressman Chet Edwards to expand GI Bill benefits to children of fallen U.S. service members was included in the final 2009 Supplemental Appropriations bill, which funds U.S. military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Senate passed the final bill 91 to 5 after the House passed it 226 to 202. The bill was signed into law by the President today.
