TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS IRRIGATION CREWS TO SAVE WATER

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., Aug. 29 -- The city of Port St. Lucie issued the following news release:

The city's Public Works Department has a new way to minimize the amount of water used to irrigate city-owned property alongside roadways and public areas. The department uses a computerized water control system that is reducing use of irrigation water by as much as 60 percent.

Called the Rain Bird Maxicom II, the new system allows watering at strategic times based on weath . . .
