CARIBBEAN CULTURE, ENVIRONMENT COME TO LIFE IN HONORS STUDY-ABROAD

ORLANDO, Fla., July 14 -- The University of Central Florida, a component of the Florida state university system, issued the following news release:

When Alex Kaplan applied for this year's President's Scholars study-abroad program, he expected to learn about Caribbean culture and its unique environmental challenges.

What he got was an up-close encounter with a nesting leatherback turtle.
