$5 MILLION GIFT TO UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA HONORS PROGRAM YIELDS EXPANSION, CREATION OF FIVE PROFESSORSHIPS

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Sept. 26 -- The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill issued the following press release:

A $5 million gift will increase the number of first-year students in the honors program by 30 percent at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and recognize the contributions of two alumni by creating five new professorships in their names.

The gift, from an anonymous donor, qualifies for a $2.5 million grant from the North Carolina Distinguished . . .
