ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 8 -- Vestas Wind Systems, Randers SV, Denmark, has been assigned a patent (7,988,423) developed by Mark Hancock, Newport, United Kingdom, for a wind turbine blade.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "The invention relates to a wind turbine blade having at least one component formed of a fibrous composite material including two or more different types of carbon fibres having a different elastic modulus to each . . .
