WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 -- The U.S. Department of State issued the following statement by John Kerry, Secretary of State:
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I extend warm wishes to the government and people of Pakistan as you commemorate 66 years of independence.
As you mark Independence Day this year, we also celebrate Pakistan's historic democratic transition and its continued advancement as a stable democracy in South Asia.
