NRC Receives Event Notification Involving Hatch Power Reactor in Georgia

WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 -- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the following event notification (No. 54237) involving the Hatch power reactor in Georgia:
HIGH PRESSURE COOLANT INJECTION (HPCI) SYSTEM INOPERABLE
"At 2234 [EDT], on 08/22/2019, while Unit [2] was at approximately 100 percent power in MODE 1, it was discovered that Unit 2 HPCI was INOPERABLE. HPCI does not have a redundant system; therefore, this condition is being reported as an eight-hour, non-emerg . . .
