CPS Announces Improved Attendance on First Day of School

CHICAGO, Sept. 12 -- Chicago Public Schools issued the following news release:

Chicago Public Schools today announced that 94.7 percent of CPS students attended school on the first day of class - an increase from last year's rate of 93.9 percent and just .1 percent off the district's record. One school - Sauganash Elementary - had perfect attendance on the first day.
