WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 -- The American Federation of Teachers issued the following statement on Oct. 22 by President Randi Weingarten responding to the Senate Judiciary Committee's vote to advance the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court despite a boycott by Democratic senators:
