NEW YORK, July 23 -- The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project issued the following news release:
The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.), a New York-based privacy group, welcomes the New York Legislature's passage of a ban on facial recognition in schools. The bill, A06787/S05140, bans facial recognition and other biometric surveillance until 2022, and it comes in response to the planned launch of facial recognition by the Lockport City School District.
