WASHINGTON, July 10 -- Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, issued the following statement on the closures of Sappi's Paper Machine 9 and the majority of the energy complex at its Westbrook mill and the end of pulp production at Pixelle's Jay mill:
"I am deeply saddened to learn of Sappi's closure of paper machine No. 9 in Westbrook and the end of pulp production at Pixelle's Jay mill and my heart goes out to the 130 workers who are losing their jobs.
