NEW YORK, May 13 -- The American Thoracic Society issued the following news release:

In the first large study to look at chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), air pollution and poor neighborhoods, researchers found that residents of high-poverty neighborhoods are more susceptible to negative respiratory effects of ozone exposure.
