NEW YORK, Feb. 28 -- The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund issued the following statement on Feb. 27:
Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 35, the Emmett Till Antilynching Act. The bill, which passed by a vote of 410-4, makes lynching a federal hate crime.
