WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 -- The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee issued the following statement by Ranking Member Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, at a hearing entitled "Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Semi-Annual Report to Congress":
"We created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to stand up for students, servicemembers, and other hardworking Americans and protect them from big banks and crooked corporations that rob them of their homes and their job . . .
