WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 -- Rep. Eliot Engel, D-New York, issued the following statement on the death of Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland:
"Pat and I are heartbroken by the passing of our dear friend, Elijah Cummings. This is a devastating loss for the entire country, at an especially critical time. Our deepest condolences go out to the entire Cummings family.
