WASHINGTON, Oct. 16 -- Rep. John P. Sarbanes, D-Maryland, issued the following statement after voting for a bipartisan resolution (H.J.Res. 77) opposing President Trump's decision to abandon U.S. Kurdish allies and criticizing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for launching a military offensive against the Kurds in northern Syria:
