WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 -- Sen. Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, issued the following statement on the death of electrician, Steven Vernon Keeney, in the American Eagle Mine in Kanawha County:
"Gayle and I send our hearts out to Steven Vernon Keeney's family and loved ones and we, like all West Virginians, will keep them in our prayers.
"Every day, our mine workers put their lives on the line as they enter the mines and power our nation, and we are deeply grateful . . .
