FEMA Awards Melbourne Nearly $3 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses

ORLANDO, Florida, Aug. 28 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency issued the following news release:

FEMA has approved $2,993,890 for the State of Florida to help the City of Melbourne defray the costs of responding to Hurricane Irma under FEMA's Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the city for the cost of overtime worked by police, firefighters, road crews and other city employees to set up and operate an emerg . . .
