WASHINGTON, July 25 -- Rep. Robert E. Latta, R-Ohio, issued the following statement after voting against the budget deal:
Latta is an original cosponsor of H.J.Res. 22, a balanced budget amendment.
"Washington doesn't have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem. Without spending reductions, I couldn't support a debt ceiling increase.
"Government should have to balance its budget just like every family and business across this great country. . . .
