WASHINGTON, July 11 -- Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, ranking member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, issued the following opening statement at a hearing entitled "The Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to the Congress":
