WASHINGTON, June 27 -- Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Ohio, issued the following statement regarding the passage of the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border Act (H.R. 3401):
"Overcrowded detention centers, children separated from their parents - these are symptoms of a larger problem caused by a broken immigration system that has allowed a backlog of 730,000 cases to pile up for years.
