Power Outages Affect St. Petersburg Wastewater System

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 11 -- The city of St. Petersburg issued the following news release:

While the City's sewage treatment system handled all wastewater that came its way during Hurricane Irma, power-loss to lift stations is currently presenting a challenge.

Three electric lift stations, which pump wastewater to treatment plants, lost power for varying periods during the storm's track through the Tampa Bay region. This caused overflows from manholes in the follow . . .
