PROVIDENCE, R.I., March 14 -- Gov. Lincoln Chafee, I-R.I., issued the following news release:
Governor Lincoln D. Chafee today announced his nomination of Mary S. McElroy, a career public defender with nearly twenty years of experience at the state and federal level, for Rhode Island Public Defender. McElroy would be the first woman to hold the position since it was established in 1941.
