NEW DELHI, Aug. 25 - The government of India issued the following news release from the Ministry of Environment and Forests:

Over the years, pollution load on the rivers has increased due to urbanisation and industrialisation. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) monitor the compliance of discharge standards for effluents notified for industries, including mining industries.
