NEW DELHI, Aug. 18 - The government of India issued the following news release from the Ministry of Water Resources:
The Government of Gujarat has requested the Union Government for grant of permission for further construction and raising the height of the Sardar Sarovar Dam. It has submitted a proposal for further raising of Sardar Sarovar Dam to Narmada Control Authority in 2008, which was considered in its 80th meeting held on 12.08.2008.
